how to order poultry

Hello Hop N Hen Farm Friends,                                                                                  May 2021     

    Thank you so much for your continued support of our farm and the local food system. And welcome to those who inquired about chickens and turkeys last year, after we sold out.    
    This will be our second summer growing vegetables in our high-tunnel.  Windy winter snow and ice storms didn't take it down! It is an exciting adventure, still so much to learn.  Radish, turnips, and spinach are already growing inside of it.
      Steve has been busy this winter working on the application for our organic certification for poultry. We have always fed, pastured, and processed our poultry organically, but when the certification process is all done, we can crow about it!  

We are now ready to take your order for broiler chickens and Thanksgiving turkey.  This year we will be raising eight batches of chickens, ready every three weeks from early June to early November. 

Again, you can pick up the broilers at one of three locations: 
  • Fresh at Hop N Hen Farm, Tuesday evening and all day Wednesday.
  • Fresh at the Henniker Community Market, that week, Thursday 4-7:00 pm.
  • Frozen at the Concord Farmers Market, that week, Saturday 8:30 to noon.

Our tentative schedule for pickup dates at the farm  (Tuesday & Wednesday)

  • June 8-9
  • June 29- June 30
  • July 20-21
  • August 10-11
  • August 31-September 1
  • September 21-22
  • October 12-13
  • first week of November at the farm
     The demand for our chickens last year was phenomenal. Thank you!  And, we expect to sell out again this year. We encourage you to order early to avoid disappointment.   This year prices remain at $5.50/lb .  Orders are accepted with a deposit of $5/bird.  

      You can reserve a  "Chicken Share" one broiler from each batch, 8 birds, with a $40 deposit.  Or two "Chicken Shares" for $80, etc…    Or you can order a few broilers throughout the season.  

All deposits are $5 per chicken and may be made by cash, check, or cards. Order in-person, by phone, or mail it in. We also take orders for livers and hearts at $6/lb, gizzards at $3.50/lb, and necks and feet at $3/lb.     

There will be a limited number of Thanksgiving Turkeys available. Turkey deposits are $50 each.  The order in which folks send in their deposit, is the order in which you get to select the size of turkey you want, they typically range between 16 to 25 pounds. Price is $5.50/lb.  We plan to have them ready for pickup at the farm, the Monday before Thanksgiving.
