Our broilers and hens are fed only 100% organic feed and NEVER any antibiotics or
growth hormones. At about 3 weeks old, when the chicks have grown their true
feathers, they are moved from our brooding coop out onto our organic pasture, where
they are able to be, well, chickens! We keep our broilers in large well-ventilated,
covered pens, providing them with plenty of clean air and sunshine, while protecting
against foxes, coyotes, and other predators, as well as the weather.
We move the pens daily, giving the broilers fresh pasture, new bugs, and plenty of exercise. Because our
broilers live natural lives on pasture, they are healthier and tastier!
We slaughter and process our broilers on our farm. While more time-consuming and
labor intensive, we believe this minimizes stress on the birds vs. transporting them to
a processing facility. We can also ensure our birds are processed as humanely and
ethically as possible.
